An Introduction to Objects by Phoebe
Share
OBJECTS BY PHOEBE is a multidisciplinary artist and industrial designer based between Melbourne and Sydney. Born in Australia, she is an Asian-Australian female artist with roots from Hong Kong and the Philippines. Her artists’ practice draws from the exploration of human emotions and lived experiences complimented by natural elements such as form, light, and texture.
Phoebe works primarily with clay, using ceramic as a medium to translate her ideas into physical forms that hold both tension and fragility. Currently her practice is focused on the dichotomy between love and pain. Exploring the emotional turmoil that permeates the way in which we connect with ourselves and one another.
Alongside her studio work, she facilitates workshops that encourage reflection, presence and connection through hand making practices.
“The (Phoebe’s) intention is to create art that provokes people into a deep, intimate search akin to their identity, and attune to their emotional being.”
Moreover, OBJECTS BY PHOEBE extends beyond the creation of physical objects. At the heart of Phoebe’s practice is a deep desire to cultivate resonance and contribute to the heart of the creative community. Her ultimate North Star is to be an advocate for the future generations of creatives, especially paving the way for the upcoming generation of Australian artist.
Acknowledging the artists and pioneers that have come before her, OBJECTS BY PHOEBE hopes to empower and foster opportunities for the upcoming creative generation.
“We walk, so you can run.”
